Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026 · Applies to Copygrove for macOS and to this website.

The short version: Copygrove collects no data at all. Your clipboard history is stored on your Mac and, if you choose to turn it on, syncs only through your own private iCloud container. We have no servers, no analytics, and no technical way to see what you copy.

1. Who we are

Copygrove is a macOS application distributed through the Mac App Store. For anything related to this policy, to your data, or to the app in general, the contact is hello@copygrove.com.

2. What data we collect

None. Copygrove does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data. In App Store privacy label terms, the app declares:

  • Data used to track you: none.
  • Data linked to your identity: none.
  • Data not linked to your identity: none.

There is no analytics, telemetry, third-party crash reporting, tracking cookies, advertising identifier or external SDK of any kind. Copygrove is built exclusively with Apple frameworks and ships with zero third-party dependencies.

3. What the app handles, and where it lives

To do its job, Copygrove needs to read your Mac's clipboard. Here is what it does with that content:

  • Clipboard content (text, rich text, images, files, colors and links), along with the source app, the date it was copied and the name of the device it was copied on.
  • All of it is stored locally on your Mac, inside the app's sandbox container, using SwiftData (Apple's local storage framework).
  • This data is never sent to Copygrove or to any third party. There is no Copygrove server that could receive it.

4. iCloud sync (optional)

Sync stays off until you turn it on. If you do:

  • Your history syncs via CloudKit, in the private container of your own iCloud account — the same mechanism Apple's own apps like Notes and Reminders use.
  • The data travels encrypted and stays under your Apple ID. We have no access to that container: we cannot read, query, export or recover it, not even if you asked us to.
  • Apple's handling of that data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
  • You can turn sync off at any time in the app's settings.

5. Content that is never captured

By design, Copygrove ignores:

  • Content copied from known password managers — 1Password, Bitwarden, KeePassXC, Keychain Access and Apple Passwords among them — excluded out of the box.
  • Content the system marks as concealed through the org.nspasteboard.ConcealedType type, the standard macOS password managers use.
  • Content from any app you add to the excluded apps list, in the Privacy pane of settings.

6. Permissions the app requests

  • Clipboard reading: this is the app's core function and requires no special macOS permission. It happens inside the App Sandbox.
  • Accessibility (optional): only requested if you enable "Paste automatically after selecting", and used solely to simulate the paste into the active app. You can decline it and use the rest of Copygrove normally. Copygrove does not log keystrokes.
  • iCloud (optional): only if you turn sync on.

7. Retention and deletion

You decide how long your history lives. In settings you can set automatic retention (7, 30, 90 days or unlimited) and a maximum size. You can also delete items one by one or wipe the entire history at any time. Anything you delete on one device is removed from your iCloud container on the next sync. If you uninstall the app, local data goes with it; iCloud data can be removed from your Apple ID's iCloud settings.

8. Purchases

Copygrove Pro is a one-time in-app purchase of $9.99 USD, processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We never see or store your payment details: the app only asks Apple whether your purchase is active. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies.

9. Children

Copygrove is not directed at children under 13, and collects no data from anyone, at any age.

10. Your rights

Regulations such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you the right to access, correct, export and delete your personal data. With Copygrove those rights are satisfied directly: your data is already only in your hands. We hold no copy of it, so there is nothing to request from us — you can view, change or delete it yourself in the app at any time. If you still have questions about exercising them, write to us.

11. This website

This site uses no tracking cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Your hosting provider may log requests (such as IP addresses) for operational and security reasons, which is standard for any web server.

12. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date in the header and publish the new version at this same address. If a change ever materially affected how your data is handled, we'd say so inside the app itself.
